SCRIBO LA DOTTA Studiorum
With LA DOTTA Studiorum, SCRIBO honors the origins of the University of Bologna – founded in 1088 and still a symbol of knowledge, exchange, and intellectual freedom. The name “Studiorum” recalls the students who once thronged the city's porticoes, mingled in taverns, and thus carried academic life from the lecture halls out into the streets.
The model's hand-milled surface reflects the structure of the wood from which the city's first medieval arcades were built. Its irregular grain evokes a time when knowledge, craftsmanship, and architecture were inextricably linked. The vibrant yellow hue symbolizes the warm light of the porticoes at night—a contrast to the dark sky that provides orientation and a sense of security.
The cap, barrel, grip section, and knob are handcrafted from milled resin. Length 148 mm, maximum diameter 16.75 mm. The clip and metal parts are ruthenium-plated. The 6.5 mm diameter ebonite feed with two capillaries ensures a consistent flow, and the piston filling system holds 1.42 ml.
The centerpiece is the exclusive SCRIBO nib, available in 18 karat gold in line widths from Extra Extra Fine to Stub or as a 14 karat flex nib in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad.
Each piece comes in a leather and cotton box. The edition is limited to 219 pieces worldwide. LA DOTTA Studiorum is a writing instrument that captures the atmosphere of Bologna – an expression of knowledge, light, and the vibrant connection between history and the present.
