David Oscarson – Russian Imperial Collection
The Russian Imperial Collection is the 28th edition of David Oscarson's limited-edition writing instruments and marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the Romanov dynasty, which ruled Russia from 1613 to 1917. This collection is a tribute to the unparalleled artistry of that era, particularly the masterpieces of Peter Carl Fabergé, whose artistic influence remains unsurpassed to this day.
Crafted from solid sterling silver, this edition features a continuous guilloché pattern of radiating sunburst motifs overlaid with interlocking double-leaf ornaments. This design is reminiscent of the famous Coronation Egg of 1896, created for the coronation of Nicholas II. Two imperial double-headed eagles adorn the handle, while the clip features three pairs of floral rosettes. The cap ring is decorated with Cyrillic script. The entire surface is finished with multiple layers of translucent hot enamel, giving the collection its signature depth and brilliance.
The enamel is created using traditional craftsmanship: glass, water, and metal oxides are ground into a fine paste and applied layer by layer, fired multiple times, polished, and re-enameled. The process is repeated until the guilloche engraving is completely filled and the surface acquires a velvety glass texture.
The Russian Imperial Collection is available in four color variations, each limited to 304 copies – a reference to the 304 years of Romanov rule – and is available as a fountain pen (F, M, B) or rollerball.
A writing instrument that combines imperial elegance, artisanal precision, and the opulent aesthetics of Russian court culture.
