Your fountain pen, perfected
A fountain pen is more than just a writing instrument. It's an expression of your personality, your handwriting, your style. But just as an off-the-rack suit only becomes perfect with alterations, a fountain pen only unfolds its full potential with a custom-tailored nib.
At Landsiedel Fine Writing, we offer precisely this service. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned collector, we ensure that your writing instrument not only impresses visually, but also gives you the feeling, when writing, that it was made just for you.
What is a spring grind?
During nib sharpening, the nib of your fountain pen is precisely adjusted. We take into account factors such as writing angle, pressure, and speed. The goal is to optimize ink flow, eliminate scratching and skipping, and give the nib a unique character that perfectly matches your writing style. Nib sharpening makes the difference between "okay" and "perfect"—just like a bespoke suit.
Tune & Smooth – Writing out of the box
In addition to individual customization, we also offer our "Tune & Smooth" service. Here, we thoroughly test new fountain pens purchased from our shop. We ensure that the nib writes perfectly from the very first stroke: no scratching, no skipping, just pure writing pleasure.
Our process
You order your fountain pen and select your desired service directly in the shop. If you have any questions, we are always available by phone or email. For a custom sharpening, you fill out a short questionnaire so we can understand your handwriting, preferences, and requirements. We then carefully inspect and sharpen the nib before sending your fountain pen to you – ready for the perfect writing experience.
Why Landsiedel Fine Writing?
Our founder, Phillip Landsiedel, is your personal nibmaster. With nearly a decade of professional experience in Montblanc's Artisan Atelier – the department for the world's finest and most expensive writing instruments – he brings the knowledge and passion needed to transform a good fountain pen into a unique writing instrument.
Your fountain pen is in the best hands with us. We combine traditional craftsmanship with a modern understanding of individuality and quality.
