Pilot Namiki Yukari Hotei-son 2019 Limited Edition Maki-e 100th Anniversary

The Pilot Namiki Yukari Hotei-son belongs to the Seven Gods of Good Fortune Collection created for Pilot's 100th anniversary. Hotei is rooted in the figure of the Chinese wandering monk Budai and became one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune in Japan. He is particularly associated with good fortune, generosity, prosperity, harmony and the blessing of children. His large bag is one of his defining attributes.

The motif was executed by Maki-e artist Misa Seki, a member of Kokkokai. It depicts Hotei with his characteristic smile, exposed belly and large bag against a Chinese mountain landscape. Togidashi Taka Maki-e and gold particles create depth within the lacquer surface.

The individually released 2019 edition is limited to 150 fountain pens worldwide. It should not be confused with the complete Seven Gods set issued in 2018, of which only 25 sets were made. Hotei-son has a brass body, a size 10 nib made of 18 karat gold and the special 100th anniversary nib design. The original set includes the exclusive wooden box, limited Hotei-son Black Green ink, an Inden leather case, cartridges, artist card, polishing cloth and serial number plate.
