The Namiki Emperor Urushi Vermillion No. 50 is one of the most impressive fountain pens in modern writing culture. The model combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with exceptional size and a writing experience that is valued by collectors worldwide.
The barrel is made of ebonite and is hand-coated with natural urushi lacquer, extracted from the sap of the lacquer tree. For the red surface in the classic Roiro finish, experienced craftsmen apply numerous thin layers of lacquer, each carefully polished. This elaborate process can take several months and gives the fountain pen its characteristic depth and brilliance.
Inside, an impressive 18-karat gold nib of size No. 50 is at work. This so-called jumbo nib is one of the largest mass-produced nibs worldwide and ensures an exceptionally smooth and rich ink flow.
The Emperor is used as an eyedropper filler and features an integrated shut-off valve that regulates ink flow and makes transport safer. With an ink capacity of approximately 3 to 4 milliliters, it offers significantly more reserve than most other fountain pens and is ideal for long writing sessions.
With a length of around 17.5 centimeters and a weight of about 40 to 44 grams, the Emperor is one of the largest fountain pens ever. Its presence, the exceptional nib, and the traditional urushi lacquer finish make it an iconic writing instrument and a special collector's item for enthusiasts of high-quality writing culture.
The fountain pen is delivered in a high-quality wooden box, usually along with a bottle of ink, a pipette for filling, and a polishing cloth.
