David Oscarson - Raoul Wallenberg Collection
The Raoul Wallenberg Collection is the 29th edition of David Oscarson's limited-edition writing instruments and pays tribute to a man whose courage and humanity in the face of the Holocaust are among the most outstanding acts of the 20th century. Raoul Gustav Wallenberg saved an estimated 100,000 Jewish people during the Second World War and is still considered one of the most important helpers among the Righteous Among the Nations .
Born in 1912 into an influential Swedish family, Wallenberg used his knowledge, language skills, and diplomatic position in Budapest to save lives. With protective passports that placed the holder under the protection of the Swedish crown, with safe houses, and through personal involvement on deportation trains, he opposed the Nazis. Despite multiple assassination attempts, he remained steadfast until he was abducted by Soviet troops in January 1945 and never returned. His fate remains unknown, but his legacy is indelible.
The collection artfully translates key themes of his actions. The cap features a protective pass with Wallenberg's portrait and signature in low relief. The back of the crown displays the Star of David in high relief. The clip, whose shape evokes a winding and perilous path, bears three flying doves at its base, symbolizing hope and freedom.
The Swedish three-crown emblem is located at the bottom of the shaft. One variant features a repeated Star of David motif, inspired by the stained-glass windows of the Great Synagogue on Dohány Street in Budapest. The other variant bears Wallenberg's signature in high relief, along with his famous quote in Swedish, expressing his unconditional duty and moral resolve to save as many lives as possible.
Crafted in solid sterling silver and finished with translucent hard enamel, the collection follows the traditional techniques of guilloche engraving and enameling, making each piece a unique work of art.
The Raoul Wallenberg Collection is available in two color variations, each limited to 100 pieces , as a fountain pen (F, M, B) or rollerball.
A writing instrument that preserves courage, compassion and civic virtue in the form of consummate craftsmanship.
