David Oscarson – La Sagrada Familia Collection
The La Sagrada Familia Collection pays tribute to Antoni Gaudí's unique contribution to the famous basilica in Barcelona. The project began with the vision of bookseller Josep Maria Bocabella, but it was only with Gaudí's takeover in 1883 that the building acquired its distinctive character. From 1884 onward, Gaudí officially directed the project. The famous phrase that his client was in no hurry aptly describes the scale of this life's work, which continues to this day.
When Gaudí died in 1926, the church was only partially completed. The Spanish Civil War later destroyed models and workshops, leading to several years of interruption. The current building follows reconstructed plans and incorporates modern technical adaptations. Completion is scheduled for 2026.
The collection combines guilloché engraving with intricate hard enamel, translating key architectural elements of the basilica into finely crafted details. Seven-pointed sun symbols echo the famous baldachin above the altar. Framed crosses are based on the shapes of the towers and their distinctive spires. Gaudí's signature, in high relief, encircles the crown of the cap.
The La Sagrada Familia Collection is the twenty-fifth edition of the David Oscarson series and is available in two color variations, each limited to 73 pieces – a reference to Gaudí's 73 years of life.
