Jacques deMolay Collection
The Jacques de Molay folding knife commemorates the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, who in 1314 chose death by burning at the stake rather than recant his order's innocence. His refusal to repeat false confessions extracted under torture became a symbol of truthfulness and loyalty. The edition comprises 700 pieces and marks the 700th anniversary of his arrest on Friday, October 13, 1307.
The design incorporates key Templar symbols. One side displays the Templar cross and the skull and crossbones, a historical symbol of Templar-loyal ships. The alternating enamel panels reference the tessellated floor of the Masonic Temple. The opposite side features an engraved depiction of the famous Apprentice's Pillar, covered with translucent enamel. The All-Seeing Eye is engraved inside.
The scales are made of solid sterling silver and are fully guillochéd, engraved in multiple layers, and then filled with translucent and opaque enamel. Each layer of color is applied individually and fired at over 1,000 degrees Celsius. The pieces are repeatedly ground, re-enameled, and fired again until all lines and reliefs are completely filled. This technique demands the utmost precision and years of experience.
The blade is made from Swedish Damasteel DS93X Damascus steel. A diamond is set on both sides of the silver thumb stud.
