The Ellis Island Collection is the 34th edition of David Oscarson's limited-edition writing instruments and a tribute to the more than twelve million people who entered the United States via Ellis Island between 1892 and 1954. For many, the journey was marked by hardship and hope, driven by the desire for a new life in freedom.

Each writing instrument combines historical symbolism with masterful guilloché engraving and translucent hard enamel. The cap features the flags of the countries from which most immigrants came during this period, rendered in high and low relief. The American flag takes center stage, set against the silhouette of the Statue of Liberty. The clip bears the statue's torch, symbolizing enlightenment and the path to freedom.

The crown bears the seal of the Public Health Service, commemorating the medical examinations all arrivals underwent. Engraved on the lower shaft is a historic detention stamp, remembering those who had to wait longer before beginning their new lives.

The collection is crafted from solid sterling silver and built up in multiple layers of translucent enamel. Each color is applied by hand, fired, ground, and polished until the surface achieves its characteristic depth and clarity.

The Ellis Island Collection is available as a fountain pen (F, M, B) or rollerball pen and is limited to 62 pieces each.
