David Oscarson – Carl Mille’s “Marriage of the Waters” Collection
The Carl Milles – Marriage of the Waters Collection is a tribute to the Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875–1955), whose work embodies the connection between art, nature, and movement. Inspired by Milles' iconic fountain, The Marriage of the Waters , in St. Louis, this edition also celebrates David Oscarson's 20th company anniversary and the personal connection between St. Louis and Stockholm—the two cities that intertwined the lives of Milles and Oscarson.
Carl Milles is considered one of the most important Swedish artists of the 20th century. Known for his monumental bronze figures and water sculptures, he combined heaviness and lightness, mythology and modernity in his works. His figures rise above pools of water, merging with air and sky and creating a dynamic balance between movement and stillness – an artistic principle that can also be found in this collection.
The Carl Milles Collection is distinguished by a technical and aesthetic feature: For the first time, two colors of hot enamel fuse together without the otherwise necessary silver separation – an exceptionally demanding process, as different enamel colors require different firing temperatures. Beneath the translucent surface flows a double-line, diamond-cut guilloche pattern, symbolizing the movement and confluence of waters – an allusion to the union of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
The design artfully combines two worlds: the cap's top features the coat of arms of St. Louis with its converging rivers, while the symbol of the city of Stockholm adorns the lower part of the stem. Milles' signature is finely engraved on the handle, giving each piece a personal touch.
Made from solid metal, hand-engraved and enamelled with translucent and opaque hard enamel in multiple layers, each writing instrument represents the highest craftsmanship and a deep cultural connection.
The Carl Milles “Marriage of the Waters” Collection is the 32nd edition from David Oscarson and is released in four color variations:
-
Translucent Sapphire, Teal, Black and White Hard Enamel with Gold Vermeil
-
Translucent Sapphire, Azure Blue, Black and White Hard Enamel with Gold Vermeil

Each variant is limited to 80 pieces worldwide – as a fountain pen (F, M, B) or rollerball – thus honoring Carl Milles' 80 creative years.
A writing instrument that unites art, history and emotion in flowing harmony – as timeless and powerful as the waters that inspired it.
