David Oscarson – Black Water Dragon Collection
The Black Water Dragon Collection is the 18th edition in David Oscarson's series of limited-edition writing instruments. It pays tribute to one of the most powerful and benevolent symbols of Chinese culture – the dragon, an emblem of good fortune, strength, wisdom, and protection.
For over 5,000 years, the Chinese dragon has been considered a divine being capable of summoning rain and storms, controlling rivers and seas, and maintaining the balance of nature. It represents power and renewal, fertility and eternal life. In Chinese mythology, it is often depicted with a pearl—a symbol of knowledge and light—which it guards to protect good and ward off evil.
In Chinese astrology, 2012 marked the Year of the Black Water Dragon – a rare conjunction of the elements water and black that occurs only once every 60 years. The Water Dragon is considered a wise mediator and a symbol of serenity and renewal, qualities that this collection also reflects.
Each writing instrument is crafted from solid metal, finely guillochéd, and enameled in multiple layers with translucent and opaque hard enamel. The traditional Chinese water symbol is worked in relief, while the enameled surfaces achieve their unparalleled depth and brilliance through a multi-stage firing and polishing process.
The Black Water Dragon Collection is available in three color variations:
-
Opaque White in Gold Vermeil
-
Translucent Ruby Red
-
Opaque Black in Gold Vermeil
Each variant is limited to 88 pieces worldwide, including fountain pen (F, M, B) and rollerball.
A masterpiece between myth and craftsmanship – the Black Water Dragon represents power, harmony and the eternal connection between heaven, earth and water.
