David Oscarson - Lewis and Clark Collection
The Lewis and Clark Collection commemorates the historic expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who set out in 1804 at the behest of President Thomas Jefferson to explore the territory newly acquired through the Louisiana Purchase. Traveling over 8,000 miles, they documented landscapes, wildlife, cultures, and trade routes, becoming the first Americans to reach the Pacific Ocean by land. Their records continue to shape our understanding of the early United States.
The collection combines guilloché engraving with masterful hard enamel work. Both versions depict the map of the Louisiana Territory and the route of the Lewis and Clark Trail from St. Louis to Fort Clatsop. Their signatures appear in high relief against a background of flowing lines.
The Meriwether Lewis model features a telescopic clip and a finely engraved compass rose on the shaft. The William Clark version has a spring clip and displays a Peace Medal, like those presented to Indigenous chiefs along the route.
Made of sterling silver, engraved multiple times, enamelled and hand-polished, this edition follows the precise craftsmanship of all Oscarson series.
This collection is the fifteenth edition of the series and is limited to 100 pieces per design.
