In terms of design, the edition is based on the Doric order of columns, the oldest and at the same time clearest form of Greek architecture. The barrel combines deep blue, fluted resin with elaborately crafted sterling silver reliefs. Using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, finely detailed scenes from the Odyssey are created: Circe's art of transformation, the underworld, the enchanting song of the sirens and the dangerous passage past Scylla. Gilded wave ornaments connect the individual depictions and reflect the constant movement of the sea.

At the heart of the design is Poseidon, the mighty god of the sea and Odysseus' relentless antagonist. As a finely sculpted micro-sculpture on the clip, he gives the edition its narrative tension. The cap is modelled on a Doric column capital and underlines the architectural character of the writing instrument.
